The
Blue Knights was started in 1974 by ed Gallan, a police officer with the
Bangor, Maine Police Department. Ed had an idea to form a motorcycle
club for people in law enforcement. Together with seven or eight other
cops, the idea became reality. After a story about the club ran in the
local
paper the United Press International and Road Rider magazine also ran a
story. Shortly thereafter, inquiries from all over began to pour in. The
first chapter outside Maine was in Brockton, Ma. and the idea spread to
Canada, where Monkton, N.B. became the first chapter outside the United
States.
The first Blue
Knights International convention was held in 1975 at Squaw Mountain,
Maine. Since that time the convention has been held all over the United
States and Canada. The 2007 Blue Knights International Convention will
be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
As of January,
2007, the Blue Knights has grown to include 11 Conferences with 572
Chapters and 19,800 Members in 28 countries. The Blue Knights and it's
members, to date, have donated over 4.6 million dollars and 153,900 man
hours.

Make no mistake, WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS. We are active or retired full-time or reserve, police officers, sheriff's deputies, highway patrolmen, federal, state and county law enforcement agents and investigators that love riding motorcycles.. Not just one brand or type of motorcycle, but all kinds; BMW's, Buell's, Ducati's, Harley-Davidson's, Honda's, Indian's, Kawasaki's, Suzuki's, Victory's, Yamaha's.. cruisers, touring, sport bikes, you name it, we ride it! We feel that everyone should be free to ride whatever bike they choose, as long as they ride it safely. Law enforcement camaraderie is much more important than what you choose to ride.
