The Central Cal COPS memorial motorcycle run was born in 2004.
Leon Isaac lost his son Fresno County Deputy Jeff Isaac in September of
1997. Leon had a passion to help families of fallen officers and
became the president of Central Cal COPS. He went to Inyo County in
January 2004 to attend the funeral of fallen CHP Officer Paul Pino.
During his trip home to Fresno Leon met with survivors from Bakersfield.
Jason Lancaster was at the meeting. Jason lost his brother Fresno
County Deputy Josh Lancaster in May of 2003. Some of Jason's fondest
memories included riding motorcycles with Josh and he wanted to start a
memorial bike run in honor of fallen officers. Leon latched onto
the idea and our inaugural ride came less than four months later.
The ride is our lone fund raiser for the year and all proceeds go to
families of fallen officers from 14 counties in central California.
Our highest number of registrants in one year totaled 465 and our motto is
"the more the merrier!" We have had riders come from as far as Oakland
and Southern California (longest distance wins a plaque, so try and beat the
record.)
The ride will float you across the Kings River in Reedley and swing you by
the beautiful Sherwood Golf course near Sanger. Then ascend into the
foothills and make a stop in the Pine Flat Lake area at Winton Park.
Then continue through the gorgeous hills to the next stop near Humphrey
Station and on to our final destination at spacious Millerton Lake.
There you will enjoy lunch and a rockin good ol country time with the
Crossfire Band.
Countless hours of preparation each year are spent by Leon and his "crew" to
make sure riders have a great time. Please come out and support those
who have made the ultimate sacrifice, your donation is well spent.
